VenmoNot sure exactly how old this piece is but it came with my mom when she moved here from TX 30 yrs ago... and she had it for at least 20 yrs before that.
I believe she bought it in Roundtop... at the big antiques fair there she went to pretty much every year.
From the figure of the wood I'd say it's probably some varietal of pine... it's not too yellow-y so maybe red or heart pine.
She moved it out to the (covered front porch) a few years back... so it could use a good cleaning and light sanding / wire brushing and oiling.
Now that she's passed I'm just slowly selling off some her favorite things--that I don't need or want.
These folding / multi-purpose ironing boards are classic Amish designs. They've been making some version of this since the mid 1800s--and are still making them today.
I don't think my mom ever used it as an ironing board... she just liked odd, antique-y, country things. Probably used it more for the seating and step-stool functions, as a plant stand... table... etc.
Reply with any questions.
I'm in the 9th and 9th area of SLC.
