Hello, thank you for taking the time to check out my ad. Here at Cypress’ Swamp Critters, we put temperament and health as our top priority in our rats!
What does that mean for our rats, and for you?
When a breeder focuses on temperament and health, it means you’ll be getting rats that aren’t scared of you, confident, curious, and excited to interact! We want to create the perfect family pet, for those of any age to have a great experience with and enjoy! We also strive to ensure we are lowering the common risks associated with rats, such as dental and tumor related issues, as well as lengthening their short and sweet lives as long as we can!
As we are new breeders, our lines are new too! Due to this reasoning, we pick and choose the best rats to pair to the best homes, when are where we can, while ensuring healthy quality of life based off of well known temperament tests that test for, but is not limited to: fear levels, skittishness, anxious behaviors such as jumping away, hiding, scratching and biting! Breeding ethically prevents these traits heavily, which is great for both the rats and for YOU!
The coat types and colors we have, and strive to focus on, tertiary to temperament and health are rexoids and standard coats, standard and dumbo ears, and mink & cinnamon based colors, especially pearl! (Take a gander on google if you’re curious, they’re beautiful!) This all being stated, we get rainbow litters, and tend to have all sorts of colors pop up right now!
As an ethical breeder, it is our GOAL to bring you the best of what we can, fulfilled with a simple, yet detailed adoption contract, to ensure the safety of our rats, as well as us and you! We guarantee not to rehome any severely skittish rats, nor will we home out aggressive rats!
Our rehoming fee is 40-50$ per rat, however, unless extensively discussed and agreed upon, we will NOT rehome less than 2 rats at a time to a new home, for their comfort, as they’re an extremely social species!
We do have housing requirements for our rats, as per contract, to keep them safe, and ensure a healthy experience for them, and a great one for you! That includes an adequate cage, diet, and bedding, which we can further discuss case by case!
Adoptions will proceed until the rats are at least 8 weeks old, to ensure they have had enough time with both their mommas, and other cagemates, to ensure healthy psychological development, and proper temperament testing at the correct age range!
