Comfortably seats 8, but we have fit 10 by using a bench at the ends of the table.
This was my parents' dining set. My guess is that it's circa 1969. The tabletop is Formica, which isn't as pretty as natural wood, but the smooth Formica surface is way better than the grain and softness of wood for doing homework, crafts, etc.--all things that are not so great on a wood-top table. Easy cleanup with soapy water, just like a countertop.
The legs and chairs are wood, in a wonderful mid-century modern style. The CANE BACKS ARE INTACT ON MOST BUT HAVE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE ON THREE. On those chairs my dad patched with fabric. It does not look good, but did make them usable. I WOULD RECOMMEND GETTING ALL OF THESE RE-CANED for the sake of reliability since cane this old can be brittle.
The CHAIRS ARE VERY STURDY, EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE, WHICH WOBBLE. I assume they could be tightened/repaired without too much effort. The SEATS NEED TO BE RE-COVERED, since the last fabric stapled on to them is dirty, and the padding underneath is not cushy. The removable, washable, cream covers are included if you want them.
If restored this would be a spectacular set. If not restored, it is still a great set for large gatherings/parties and big projects.
