I’ve got a special dog. Sundance is my best friend. He's half mini aussie and half catahoula. This is honestly one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. Sundance is the kind of dog who’s up for anything, all day, no questions asked. Truck bed, side‑by‑side, four‑wheeler - if it moves, he’s in. If you’re headed out, he’s already waiting to load up. He’s loyal in that quiet, steady way that doesn’t get in your way. He’s not under your feet or begging for attention, but he’s never far. He’ll go check out the world, do his own thing, then circle back just to make sure you’re good. When something’s going on, he’ll bark to let you know - not nonstop, not annoying, just enough to say, “Hey, pay attention.” When it matters, he’s right there. When you don’t need him, he gives you space. He’s tough, steady, smart, and happiest outside with room to move and something to do. He doesn’t need pampering - just a person who actually gets outside and a place where he can run, explore, and be himself. He's a mountain goat and he's smart, he'll find sheds and bring them back to you, he'll spot rabbits and chase them down. He hasn't had a chance to actually herd cows, but he's smart and agile enough to not get into trouble.

I don’t want to give him up. If life hadn’t shifted so quick for me responsibilities, and new priorities, he’d stay with me right through the bitter end. But I can’t give him the miles and the time we used to have, and he deserves that. If you give him a chance, he’ll be the best dog you’ve ever had the kind you only get once.
