So, the amp kit was put together by a local amp guy, and the stained cab was made by another local cat – looks and sounds awesome! Comes with original Jensen P8R 25W alnico speaker, or add a bit for a brand new Fat Jimmy A825 (25W) alnico speaker (see below)!! Both sound amazing (although I favor FJ speakers)!

“Originally produced from 1954-1956 the GA-5 was often called Gibson’s answer to Fender’s 5C1- Wide Panel Tweed Champ. Both the Champ and the GA-5 used a 6SJ7, 6V6 and 5Y3 tube compliment and shared a very similar schematic and part assortment. Yeah, great for practice and home, but I’ve played it out live and it worked wonderfully! Obviously not the same headroom as a 20W tube amp, but in a word: fun!
New from Mojotone, the amp kit is $480; their cab is $310; the Jensen is $112; and the Fat Jimmy is $120. Grab this amp now and have a blast: $400 w/ the Jensen, or $450 w/ the Jensen and FJ!! Screamin’ deal! [I really enjoy the amp, but am chasing something, so I’m letting it go … and I will miss it!]
