If you ask my trainer which horse he'd keep home for himself, this is the one that keeps getting picked without hesitation. This gelding is loaded with talent. He has one of the biggest stops in our barn, and will do it on the shottiest ground, nailing it almost every time. He turns around with ease, lopes beautiful circles, a perfect lead change, and has all of the reining maneuvers established. He is naturally athletic, extremely trainable, and has all the tools to continue climbing the ladder in the show pen. What I like most about him is that he's talented enough to be a serious show horse, but honest enough to live at home. Too often those horses are one or the other. This guy has all the ability in the world, but he's still gentle, personable, and easy to get along with every day. We do not have to get on this guy every day to yank, pull, and tune to get the most out of him. Every single ride, once a week, or five times a week, you will get the same horse.

He has been started on the ranch, exposed to cattle, and started roping. He rides out by our registered Texas Longhorns daily and doesn't even bat an eye at what is around him. He is one-handed broke, desensitized to tarps, ropes, and whips, kids under 7, and has the kind of puppy dog personality everyone wants. He'll slow lope around all day on a loose rein, trail ride quietly, and then step into the arena and show you just how much talent he really has.

I personally think somebody looking for a high-end ranch rider should take a hard look at this horse. He has the movement, stop, athleticism, and trainability to excel in that discipline. At the same time, if somebody wanted to put him back into a full-time reining program, I think there is plenty of ability there to continue developing. With his natural stop, cow sense, and willingness, I could also see him making a very nice head horse prospect. The amount of people who even say "I love to simply trail ride now, but I want a fancy broke one to do it" is never ending, and he fits that mold to a period. Gentle and broke are often mistaken for the same thing, and this guy is absolutely both.
