8-Year-Old Purebred German Wirehaired Pointer – Looking for the Right Home

This is a very difficult decision, but I am looking for a new home for my 8-year-old purebred German Wirehaired Pointer.

He is an excellent hunting dog, highly intelligent, affectionate, and extremely loyal to his person. He loves being outdoors, cuddling with his people, and has a strong hunting drive.

He also has significant anxiety and would do best in a calm, structured home. He is currently managed with Clomicalm and Trazodone. He has separation anxiety and can become destructive if left alone for extended periods. He also resource guards toys and treats around other dogs and would likely do best as an only dog.

Because of recent conflicts with another dog in the home and the presence of children, I feel it is in everyone’s best interest to find him a more suitable environment.

Ideal home: • Adult-only or older children • Calm, predictable household • Preferably no other dogs • Someone familiar with hunting breeds or anxious dogs • Someone able to provide companionship and structure

He has no bite history with people and is very loving and affectionate. This is not a decision I am making lightly, and I will be selective about where he goes.
