PayPalFor sale; Project vehicle; 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0L Inline 6 Cylinder.
The Jeep was purchased from a workshop back in May of 2025; I was told that the shop was in the process of rebuilding a different motor for a customer to replace the motor currently in the Jeep. Apparently during the process the owner of the Jeep gave up on it and just wanted it gone.
I bought this project Jeep for my son and grandson to work together on at their home and at the auto mechanics class in school. That never happened and is still at my house.
That said, I took it upon myself to move things forward to see what it needed; I replaced the rear hatch struts to keep the hatch open and got the motor started and running. The motor had a knocking noise so I tore into it to find a missing piston with a damaged cylinder… and so it’s been sitting in this condition since around April of this year.
When I purchased it, it was said to have all the extra parts needed to do the rebuild and my general inspection of things says it appears as such.
The replacement head was said to have been resurfaced and I’m currently trying to locate it. I either didn’t get it when I picked up the Jeep or misplaced it since (the head that was pulled is still in good shape in the event I can’t find it)…so there’s the motor in the Jeep (block no good) and a complete other motor that could be rebuilt and put into the Jeep or… all of it can be used for rebuild, parts, or for whatever.
Currently the motor in the vehicle has been dismantled down to the block exposing the pistons of which the #5 Cylinder is missing and in pieces in the oil pan. It appears that the block is cracked/damaged in cylinder #5 (see Pics). All the parts from the tear-down are still available along with the extra motor for rebuild or whatever.
Transfer case is 242 WJ, no skid pans, no stock towing hooks in front but I have some chrome aftermarket ones that I can throw in with it. Has factory tow hitch.
Have several extra headlights and various other parts that I’ve collected over the years that I can include in the deal.
$600 OBO
