This guy is a been there done that ranch horse that has spent most of his life roping and doctoring cows and doing cattle drives. You usually don’t see a horse this size with the agility that Maui has, he can spin circles like a cutting horse at 16 hands tall and built like a tank. Typically it’s hard to get a horse this big to move that fast out of the box, maui is a big horse with a huge motor and will gladly show you. As far as his temperament goes: he’s easy to catch, lovable and very safe for anyone to ride. Both my kids have headed on him numerous times. He’s easy in the box, scores like a champ and has big old face when you ask for it. He will rope 1 or 20 steers it doesn’t matter. He stand tied all day, load and back out of any trailer, stand for the farrier and lift his feet with ease. He takes a size 1 shoe and he was just freshly shod by our farrier this week. I love good rope horses and he’s a hard one to let go but he’s going to make someone very happy at 11 years old he has many many years left and requires zero maintenance. He can be a little watchy at times but never dangerous. You can dismount this horse in the middle of the arena and run off and he will stand exactly where you leave him until you come back to get him.
