Pair of archaic Chinese Hongshan-style carved stone figures. Dark green/black stone with natural veining and surface wear. Decorative replicas, not ancient. One figure shows possible old repairs/fill.

I’ve had these for almost 20 years. I got them from a friend of mine, who used to import a lot of stuff from China. I think they’re cool.

The Hongshan culture is Neolithic northeastern China, dating to 4500–3000 BCE. Genuine Hongshan jades are known for stylized ritual/zoomorphic/anthropomorphic forms.

• Fertility/mother figure — the wider one with wide hips, hands across the belly, pronounced lower body, squared head, side tabs/ears, and carved feet. The light areas on the face, thigh, and especially back look like damage, filler, or old repair.
• Shaman/ancestor/spirit figure—Rounder head, large almond eyes, stylized ears, long arms, narrower waist, and more simplified body. It looks cleaner and more cohesive as stone. The pale areas look more like natural veining/mineral inclusions or surface. This one doesn't appear to have patches.

They are about eight inches tall. The shaman/rounder-headed one is a little taller and just over 8 inches.
