Considering selling this sweet beginner safe trail mare. 14.2 hands. I bought her sight unseen from a retiring outfitter in spring last year who said she was 10 and that she was his personal horse for his pack trips. He had her since she was 3 and trained her himself. I've had several vets look at her and they all thought she was more likely mid-teens though. She's been an amazing trail horse, if anyone else won't cross something, she is happy to get in the lead and show them how it's done. She is sure footed and will cross anything- bridges, deep rivers, mud, anything we've encountered. I used her to take lessons and she took good care of me. She's got lots of energy and will go all day, we've done many 14+ mile trails. She has a quick pace and will trot if you don't choke her back, never goes any faster than a slow trot without asking though. She's easy to catch, a "lady" for the farrier, and is the absolute bottom of the pecking order in our herd. She's the one I put grandma on for trail rides.
She's all around a very sweet girl who I don't want to part with. The only reason I'm considering selling her is she gets stubborn on really steep inclines and plants her feet. We live in steep steep country in Wyoming and as much as I love her, I need to be able to go up some of the 2,000-3,000 ft elevation rides. She would be perfect for anyone doing rides with a mellower incline. No funny business with her, she’s always the same horse.
She got a sore hoof after a rocky ride last spring and I spent $1,000 on xrays to find out she just needed a few weeks of rest, no issues since. We did find out she has some arthritis in her rear hocks that is completely fused and all vets said it shouldn't bother her or require any maintenance. Happy to share xrays if interested.
Had her teeth floated in September, UTD on vaccines and dewormer this spring. Firm on price, will keep her for my young kids to grow into if not sold.
