VenmoA few years ago, I began grinding a 13.1” mirror blank to build a Newtonian Reflector Telescope. Injuries, however, have prevented me from finishing the job. My loss is your gain!
I am selling the following parts to build your own telescope:
13.1” Pyrex glass concave mirror blank, ground to spherical shape, ready to be parabolized. The glass is rated for an f/4.5 focal ratio, without losing accuracy due to temperature expansion/contraction. The glass is presently ground with focal length of approx. 131” and f-ratio of about 10. Some fine grinding and polishing required. If “faster” f-ratio is desired, course and fine grinding will be required.
13.1” convex matching Pyrex blank for grinding concave mirror blank.
13-7/8” x 14-1/2” heavy duty 4-vane spider mount for diagonal mirror.
1.83” Diagonal Mirror Holder.
1.83” Diagonal Surface Mirror with 1/20 wave accuracy.
2” diameter Eyepiece Focuser.
Telrad Reflex Sight (to position telescope).
14 inch diameter by 10 foot Sonotube (to mount optics in).
You will need a truck or trailer to haul the Sonotube because of its 10 foot length and diameter.
I have researched today’s prices on the parts, and the total ranges from $600 to $700. As you can see, my asking price is a great bargain!
