Thiokol Imp 1404 WTFC Serial Number T4C-940, 822 hours

1972-1973(ish) Thiokol 1404 wide-track Imp. I have owned, rebuilt and cared for this snow cat over the past 4 years and she’s been an amazing ride. The Thiokol Imp was literally built by rocket engineers; there is serious engineering here and it shows, pride of ownership comes with that (and they aren’t making any more). The Imp is small enough to get where bigger cats have a hard time navigating and big / powerful enough to climb – haul – break trail just about anywhere in any type / depth of snow. She has NEVER been stuck or unable to get out under her own power, the thing is a tank. Floats over snow where side-by-sides sink and get stuck, has several rescues under her belt.

I have rebuilt, repaired or replaced worn or troubled items and added many amenities making this Imp reliable, dependable, comfortable and enjoyable. Starts right up in the coldest of weather and gets you where you’re going without fail. Engine runs strong and smooth with new electronic ignition, Webber carb & recent valve lash adjustment. Does not burn oil, stall, stutter or overheat. Trans, clutch, trans-axle, brakes / bands, tracks, grousers & hardware – all good. Painted exterior. Installed high-output cab heater & seat heaters (toasty). LED lights front, side & rear (in addition to headlights). This is a good turn-key machine that requires nothing other than a good new home, an appreciative owner and regular maintenance for many years of continued service. I am only selling this machine because I need 4-6 seats, if it weren’t for that I’d keep the Imp forever.
