VenmoThis was purchased for a Gen 1 Chevrolet Volt.
Nearly all non-Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) sold in North America with a J1772 (Type 1) inlet are compatible with a 120V, 60 Hz, 12A Level 1 charger using a J1772 connector. This is the standard portable/home Level 1 setup (often included with the vehicle), delivering ~1.4–1.44 kW. It adds roughly 3–5 miles of range per hour depending on the vehicle’s efficiency, onboard charger, and battery size. All commercially available plug-in vehicles in the US support Level 1 AC charging via J1772 (or adapter) Key Compatibility Notes J1772 inlet vehicles: Direct plug-and-play compatibility. This includes the vast majority of non-Tesla BEVs and PHEVs from ~2010 onward.
Chevrolet: Bolt EV/EUV, Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Silverado EV (and older Volt PHEV). Ford: Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning. Hyundai/Kia: Ioniq 5/6, Kona Electric, EV6, EV9, Niro EV. Nissan: Leaf, Ariya. BMW: i4, i5, iX (and others). Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, etc.: Various e-tron, ID.4, Taycan models (AC via J1772 portion). Others: Honda Prologue, Rivian R1T/R1S (AC), Lucid Air, Genesis models, Toyota bZ4X/Prius Prime (PHEV), Jeep/Volvo PHEVs, etc. PHEVs (e.g., Toyota Prius Prime, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid) are also fully compatible and often benefit more from Level 1 due to smaller batteries.
