$50 Line 6 Spyder 3 - Its old and sounds exactly like they did 30 years ago. Grungy and full of grit. It has a strange oscillation noise, but I believe its just the 5ft cable (included). Great for your child if you can endure the sound of raw metal.
$100 Monoprice Stage Right 15w Tube Amplifier - sounds great! Works still and doesn't have any strange issues. Clean and ready to make some good sounds.
$100 Unknown Brand Electronic Drum Set - a gift from a band mate (drummer) who told me it works great, he just preferred the real deal.
