VenmoThis is Koda. A 3 year old neutered purebred Newfoundland. This big boy has the most incredible personality. He is extremely patient with children and other animals. My toddlers will sit on him and bounce, climb all over him, take naps on him, get in his face, and he doesn’t bat an eye. He is relatively quiet, and when he’s not he can be told to “whisper”. It’s usually just to tell you he needs to potty. He is usually very calm and happy to lay around, but also has plenty of energy to go outside and play. He LOVES snow.
He is used to a kennel.
He loves hikes and fetch. And LIVES to patrol and protect our chickens. He’s saved them from raccoons several times.
He knows lots of tricks. Like sit, spin, lay down, leave it (it’s on paw), stay, speak, and plays the “1,2,3, race game”
Now here’s the catch. You have to understand he is a shedding dog and needs regular maintenance. Regular brushing will help a lot. His fur doesn’t stick to clothing, but it will end up all over your floors in tumbleweeds.
Additionally drooling. You will need towels handy. Especially if you are cooking, if he’s overheated (which he over heats easily), or dehydrated. Regular teeth brushing helps a little. He is pretty messy with water so we give his outside.
Overall he is an incredible dog. But my husband and I are burnt out. We have our third baby on the way and with how high maintenance he is, it’s like having another child. Koda is not being loved and cared for the way he so rightfully deserves.
We are looking for a home with very patient owners that fully understand that he is high maintenance. Preferably someone with lots of love to give and time on their hands and doesn’t mind the extra work. The things about him that are hard, he cant control.
(Please no one who plant to keep him as an outdoor dog. He overheats extremely easily and would be miserable)
Please reach out and we will interview you. We intend to be picky about who he goes to. We would rather keep him than him go to a worse home.
