This 400ci engine block (casting number 3951509) is the most highly sought after block ever made by Chevy. This is because of its high Nickel/Tin content resulting in a harder metal mixture that drastically improves wear resistance in the cylinder walls and adds overall rigidity. The 509 is also a 2-bolt main, which leaves the bulk of the structural metal intact. Serious builders prefer buying a 2-bolt 509 block and converting it to aftermarket splayed 4-bolt caps for maximum strength.

This was originally pulled from a 1972 Truck about 15 years ago and has been wrapped in covered storage since then. The engine turns over freely and contains all the the accessories in the pictures including the valve covers, carburetor, starter, water pump, engine stand, and engine lift.
