River is a standard black and white female Border Collie looking for a home better suited to her drive and working ability. She is two years old this summer and in tact. Not papered!

She has good instinct on stock, can move sheep, and shows strong interest in working livestock. She was bred with larger stock in mind and has the drive and potential to excel with the right person and consistent work.

She is also a huge people person. I can take her anywhere and she is wanting attention and loves from anyone you meet. I have a young son and she is gentle with him, even when he tries to pull on her hair or tail as babies often try.

River loves being outside and enjoys walks, hikes, and having a job to do. She has pretty solid recall, and we’ve been putting a lot of work into that recently. She is smart, eager, and thrives when given structure and purpose.

I want to be upfront so she finds the right home: River - cannot go to a home with birds or poultry unless they can be completely separated or you are experienced and willing to put in serious training. She has a high prey drive toward birds and will chase/catch them, which can result in injury. She does not eat them. Her instinct is to catch.

The reason we are looking to rehome River is simple- she is not getting the opportunity or work she deserves here. With our current property setup, we are unable to fully separate her from birds, and that limits her ability to reach her full potential.

This is not an easy decision, but we want River in a home where she can truly thrive and be given the chance to become the dog we know she can be.
