Lucy is a 14 to 15-year-old grade chestnut mare standing around 13.4 hands. We’ve owned her for about 7 years, and she has been a wonderful horse for our family. My husband rode her for years, but he no longer rides, so we’ve made the difficult decision to find her a new home.
Lucy does best in a rope halter, pressure points are big with her. She can ride in a simple snaffle bit and has been exposed to a little bit of everything. She’s been ridden on trails, has played around on barrels and poles in the arena, and has been around cattle. While she has not been used for roping or competed in rodeos, she’s been a fun, versatile mare.
She has been sound for us and has never offered to buck, rear, or bolt. She stands well for the farrier and has always been kept barefoot with no issues. She absolutely loves being groomed and enjoys the attention.
Lucy will tolerate fly spray, but she’ll usually walk small circles while you’re spraying her. We also believe she experienced some trailer-related stress before we owned her. We’ve spent years working with her, and she’s improved, but we’d rather disclose that than surprise someone.
Lucy would do best with a confident, knowledgeable rider who understands horses and is willing to be patient when needed. Because of that, we do not consider her a beginner or young child’s horse.
This isn’t an easy decision shes been my husband's horse he doesn't have the time for her and would love if someone does, our biggest priority is finding Lucy a kind, loving home where she’ll continue to be appreciated and cared for.
Feel free to message me with any questions or to schedule a time to come meet Lucy. Serious inquiries only, please.
🤎 Good homes are a must.
