PayPalI’ve been dreading selling her but I have to move to an apartment and she cannot come with me. This Lyon & Healy Upright Grand is a piece I picked up for free a few years ago, though I don’t think the family I got it from knew its value. I believe it’s over a century old, as Lyon & Healy Chicago stopped making upright/cabinet grands like this one in the 1920s and, according to the tuning record, existed before a company began making new instruments under the Lyon & Healy name in 1989. Most importantly, she’s played beautifully for me.
She has some serious wear and tear: chipped keys, grandkids’ names carved into the wood, a spot of felt stuck to the top of her, and a key that’s taped together internally. Despite all this she still plays quite wonderfully, with a full unique sound and every key in working order. She’s held her tune alright too, though I can’t guarantee she’d be in tune after moving.
Charging $150 for her in an attempt to find someone who can really care for and play her. But if you can prove you play and will preserve/restore this historical piece, I’ll gladly give her away for free, and could even help move her.
