This is a "Char-broil" brand. I have had it for many years, but recently the briquettes need to be replaced. It doesn't have a "grate" at the bottom and never had one. You would just need to buy some BBQ ceramic briquettes - if you can create a grill plate for the bottom that would work but if not - all these years I have never used one. It works great - nothing wrong with it. Has had great use and has worked good. I cleaned the inside as well. It's empty
