PayPalHere are my Infinity 8 Kappa’s (or Kappa 8’s if you like) up for sale as I upgraded to some VERY expensive speakers!
These 8 Kappas are known (along with their big brothers, the 9 Kappas) as amp killers. NO MORE! I ordered and installed brand new crossovers (see pics) that settle these speakers down to a reasonable ohm load and really opened up the mids and highs (the original crossovers were almost 50 years old and the caps had seen better days). The crossovers cost me nearly $500, I installed them myself and all went swimmingly. The speakers sound great and my amps barely break a sweat now…they would get hot before the upgrade. The new crossovers bypass the tone controls on the back so the dials are now just for show.
These are 4 way designs + an additional Emit tweeter on the back. All the drivers work. The former owner replaced the rotten dust cap on the midrange (the ‘guts’ are still original) and the woofers surrounds were replaced as well.
They are still fully bi-amp or bi-wireable. I have the original copper shunts to connect all speakers in the cab to one source…which is doable now that they don’t carry such a heavy ohm load.
The cabinets are in very nice condition, as are the grills.
I personally have $1,400 into these speakers. I am listing them for a considerable loss as they do take up room and I'd love for them to find a new home.
I can audition them in my home in Ogden...
These are 50+ pounds each so I could be convinced to deliver them for a fee (gas being what it is). I am in Ogden.
