CashAppBeautiful pair of SM-150's that have been altered in the way of sound quality.
As you can see, EMIT-R tweeters from a set of Infintesimal IV bookshelves; reside where there use to be a Polycell High Output tweeter use to be. I was able to retrofit the EMIT diaphragm onto the original Polycell faceplate.
This modification did bring the impedance and sensitivity down slightly as well as RMS increasing slightly I'd assume. With the safe crossover frequency of the original crossover, this got rid of the harshness in the upper end that these were known for.
As far as bass modifications, These were my first refoam over 10 years ago. Not perfect but sealed up great. I also have another set of woofers incase I ever wanted or needed to do it again. I also Internally braced the enclosure with a 2"x 2" front to back near the woofer. Added a bit of polyfill, but not too much.
I then replaced the cracked and leaking original spring terminals with binding posts and new plates. Heatshrinked and ring terminal equipped Internally.
I have 4 extra mid range drivers, the original polycells and 2 extra woofers. Also likely some SM-155 Crossovers with potentiometers.
These are about as mint as you will find, and they have been in my family for about 20 years now. Original owner had them in box new from 93-94 to about 2012. We used them right out of the box, foam went bad when I was a teenager and sat for a couple years. They were given to me to fix and have. I have had them for about 15 ish years and they are always in operable and clean condition.
Long winded description, because these mean a lot to me. My childhood project and still one of the cleanest pair of SM's I've seen.
I feel these are priced fairly based on what you can get a clean pair of these for without any kind of sound quality improvement.
