Nico is a handsome all-black domestic shorthair with the softest coat and an even softer heart. He is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle on the couch, curl up in your lap, and sleep beside you at night. If you're looking for a loyal companion who enjoys being close to his people, Nico is your guy.

One of his favorite things in the world is treats—shake the treat bag, and he'll come running! He absolutely goes crazy for them.

Unfortunately, since our daughter has become mobile, Nico has become increasingly stressed. He's never been comfortable around very young children, and we've realized he would be much happier in a quieter home.

Normally, we would simply wait it out until our daughter is older. However, we hope to grow our family, and it doesn't feel fair to ask Nico to spend another 3–5 years feeling stressed and anxious around toddlers. We love him too much to keep him in a situation where he isn't truly happy, so we're making this difficult decision with his best interests at heart.

Nico does very well with dogs and other cats. He was especially close with our other male cat, and they were the best of friends. Since he passed away, Nico has definitely seemed lonelier, so we think he would enjoy having another feline companion.

He also loves spending time outside in the evenings to explore. He's quite the little hunter, so don't be surprised if he occasionally leaves a mouse or bird by your door as a gift—his way of saying he cares!

Nico would do best in:

• A home without children under 3 years old.\
• A calm environment where he can receive lots of love and attention.\
• A family with another friendly cat or a dog (or both!).\
• Someone looking for a cuddly, affectionate cat with a big personality.

This decision has not been made lightly. We love Nico dearly and want to make sure he finds the perfect home where he can thrive. We will be taking our time to find the right fit because he deserves nothing less.
