These floating plants absorb lots of nitrates, reducing water changes, without the hassle of their smaller cousin. They are fairly easy to remove from a tank. I have done it before to experiment with other types of floating plants, but I always come back to these because they grow the fastest, have the least obtrusive roots, and don't rot if the tank lid creates humid conditions.
