The tabletop is antique as the rounded edge profile is indicative of hand planes, drawknives, and spokeshaves, the curves naturally have subtle, beautiful “waves” or slight asymmetries you can feel but can’t easily capture in a photo.
I believe the table base was either repaired or carefully reworked from the original base as part of the restoration. I also believe the restoration was completed by Ackerman & Son’s in Denver, Colorado.
The specific trestle design “bar-and-twin-pedestal” design was incredibly popular across European countryside homes in the 1850-1890 era because it allowed a large family table to be sturdy without corner legs blocking the seating.
You will see scuffs, scratches, and light and dark marks from use. The center of the table has slight cracking caused by Utah’s dry climate. These details add to the table’s beautiful patina. I love the feel of the top and edges, especially the subtle waves across the surface.
