Collector's Knife. Legendary, long-discontinued Benchmade Model 2000S, also known as the Reflex (not to be confused with the Mini Reflex), from the late-1990s or early-2000s. One of Benchmade's earliest side-opening, button-lock, fully-automatic tactical knives. Features a partially serrated, bead-blasted stainless steel blade. Research indicates that the blade is ATS-34 steel, but it is not labeled on the knife. The handle is black-anodized fluted aircraft aluminum. The base of the handle is shaped to act as a blunt-strike weapon. This knife is one of Benchmade's largest automatics, with a full 4-inch blade. Closed length is 5.25 inches. Opened length is 9.25 inches. Weight is 4.9 ounces. The blade is inscribed with the original Benchmade butterfly logo, with "Bali-Song" written inside the butterfly, and the words "Benchmade USA." Included with the knife are: (1) the original Benchmade box, on which is printed the words, "Made in USA," and which includes the original product SKU label, product number and "2000S-BLK" designation; (2) the original belt sheath that came with the knife; and (3) the original Benchmade paperwork regarding care, maintenance and warranty that came with the knife. The sheath is also embossed with the Benchmade butterfly emblem, and "Bali-Song" and "USA" lettering. This knife has been held as a collector's item. It is in pristine condition, including the blade, handle and sheath. It has been handled, but never used, never sharpened, never dropped, never washed. The automatic side-opening mechanism works perfectly and opens with a very quick, very strong action and a solid strike. The mechanism for opening the knife is a push button. When the knife is open, it is locked open. It can only be closed while depressing the push button. This early production 2000S does not include a secondary safety lock/swith nor a carry clip. Very serious piece of gear.
