Unicam® cylinder head design - Using the same proven Unicam® cylinder head design found in our championship-winning CRF450R motocrosser helps make the engine more compact, allowing us to position it for optimal weight distribution and ground clearance. High lift, long-duration camshaft - Giving the engine a high-lift, long-duration camshaft improves its breathing and yields more power throughout the rpm range. Roller rocker arms - Roller-tip rocker arms in the valve train reduce engine friction, improve efficiency, and increase power output at higher revs. Large throttle bodies - Our engineers gave the engine twin 46mm throttle bores for better breathing and airflow, complementing the potent camshaft specs. You'll feel and hear the difference when you hit the loud pedal. High-flow fuel injectors - More air plus more fuel equals more power. With the hot cam, throttle body, and high-flow fuel injectors, the engine is the total package for off-road performance. Semi-dry-sump lubrication - The semi-dry-sump design keeps engine oil away from the crankshaft. It ensures more positive oiling under extreme conditions, eliminating windage losses and ensuring better oiling under extreme driving conditions. Engine air intake - Clean air is vital for optimal engine performance. Our design places the air filter high over the engine in the rear and the air intake off to the side to promote a constant supply of clean air. Dual-pin offset crankshaft - By offsetting the cylinders’ two crankpins by 270 degrees, the engine delivers a wide powerband and abundant torque, while counterbalancers help keep everything running smoothly.
