Rawhide’s Marshall Dillon (“Rip”) is an absolute, one of a kind gaited bay tobiano Singlefooter gelding. He is SHOBA registered. He is one of the prettiest horses you’ll ever find, plus he GLIDES along the trail and is an absolute gaited dream to ride. He is 9 years old and stands 15.1. He is built like a tank with great bone, so he’s an ideal size for just about anyone.
Rip has lots and lots of trail miles under his belt. He’s been ridden extensively here in Utah and does great on the trail. He’s been ridden in technical terrain, and we even took him on a cattle drive just last week.
Rip is ultra rare because he can gait both slowly and quickly, and all of his gaits are incredibly smooth. He can do everything from a silky smooth flat foot walk (4-6mph) to a saddle gait, to a singlefoot that reaches just shy of 20mph. He is a DREAM to ride and can really cover some ground when asked.
Because Rip can do every type of gait and different speeds, he can easily ride with other gaited horses that are not as quick as him and will gait along at whatever speed the others are going. We frequently ride him with our Fox Trotters and he fits in great. He just goes whatever speed the others are going, but if I call on him to go faster, he’s always ready and willing.
Rip is sired by well-known stallion Coal Miner by Rowdy Rawhide and out of a Tennessee Walker mare (Marshall Dillon bred).
Rip also has a fair amount of fancy training. He’ll neck rein, stop nicely, back nicely, move his forequarters when asked and sidepass.
If you are looking for a silky smooth trail horse with the ability to really cruise if asked, Rip is your guy. He’s the perfect step up horse if you’ve been loving your gaited horse, but want something that can cruise along and really cover ground when asked.
Video available upon request.
