CashAppThis is something no dog owner wants to do, but this must be done for her sake.
This is my dog nova, I’ve had her since she was a puppy, she is 8 years old as of August 13th.
Im not going to sugar coat it. Nova can be aggressive sometimes, she struggles with meeting new people, dogs, kids etc.
I have put nova in training sessions on 2 separate occasions, not only to help her with her anxiety and lack of confidence, but also to help myself gain knowledge on how I can control her in certain situations, also to control my anxiety when the situations are elevated with her and to work with her in a proper manner that is healthy, because at the end of the day dogs need guidance and encouragement.
That being said, I have not been able to keep up on those trainings with how busy life has been lately, I work full time and live in a small space, and as much as I hate to say this, nova just isn’t getting the attention and quality of life I know that she deserves.
She needs somebody that will take the time to encourage her and work with her with the issues she has, preferably someone experienced with dog training or atleast an understanding of dog behavior. Nova is not a walk in the park, she needs someone that WANTS to help her.
Off the rip meeting somebody new, she will do the normal barking, she sees new people as a threat so she goes into defense mode, every time I need to introduce her to someone new she is on leash because she does try to lunge at said person, and im using what I’ve learned in trainings with positive reinforcement, and depending on the person it takes upwards of an hour for her to really start trusting the person your introducing her too.
That being said, once she is warmed up to you, she is the sweetest, most kind loving dog. She loves cuddling, she loves being pet, resting her head against you, she just does things that melt your heart. She is potty trained and does really well being home by herself, she occasionally will get into the trash and what not but nothing to crazy. Her shots are almost expired due to it being a struggle taking her in public, but she is fixed and when someone is interested in her, we can obviously sit down and talk more about what to expect out of her.
I really just want her to go to a loving home, or farm, or someone that has the patience and time to work with her, to give her a better life. This process of debating whether or not I could pull the trigger to do this breaks my heart. She’s such a wonderful dog when you get to know her.
