VenmoIndy is a 9-year-old Australian Shepherd with the sweetest mix of adventure buddy and professional couch potato. At 36 pounds, she’s the perfect size to be your hiking companion, camping buddy, or your shadow around the house.
Indy is house-trained, kennel-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and even trained to do her business on rocks instead of grass. She travels beautifully in the car and is happiest when she gets to be wherever her people are.
She has beautiful mismatched eyes, including one with gorgeous blue coloring, and a personality that will keep you smiling. Indy absolutely loves anything soft that happens to land on the floor—shirts, towels, blankets, socks—you name it. If there’s a pile of laundry, she’ll find it. She also loves curling up with just her head under the couch or bed, loves to snuggle, and will happily snuggle in bed with you if you let her. Belly rubs are another favorite, and she’ll immediately roll over when someone offers to give her some attention.
But don't let her age fool you! Indy still loves swimming, hiking, camping, running, playing outside, and being active. She can happily lounge around the house all day when you're relaxing, but she is equally excited to head out on an adventure. She loves being out in front on a leash and knows several tricks. She also enjoys a good play-fight with her canine housemate.
Indy has lived successfully with a cat and did well with one in the home, although she does bark at cats she sees outside. She has been wonderful with her family and is used to being an inside dog. She travels well, lets you know when someone's at the door, tolerates nail trims like a champ, and even has a favorite morning ritual: her morning breath chew.
She does get nervous at the vet and will try to hide under her person's chair, but otherwise she is an easygoing, affectionate girl.
Our kids are grown and gone or away most of the day, and I am now working and attending school. I also can no longer take Indy running like I used to. As a result, she is spending far too much time home alone and in her kennel, and that isn't the life we want for her.
Indy deserves a home where she can spend less time alone and more time being someone's companion. She would be wonderful for someone who wants a dog who can happily relax beside them at home but is also ready to jump in the car for a hike, camping trip, swim, or outdoor adventure.
