Hi, I’m Westly!

I’m a 3-year-old Border Collie/Idaho Shag mix, and if you’re looking for a smart, fun adventure buddy, you may have just found him!

I’m a neutered male, current on my vaccines, potty trained, and I already know sit, paw, and “OK” as my release word. I’m also very food motivated, so treats are definitely the way to my heart—and a great way to keep teaching me new things!

I LOVE being active. Running, hiking, car rides… count me in! I’m the kind of dog who would be thrilled to have a person or family who wants to include me in their adventures.

I’m said to be great with kids of all ages and good with other dogs. Cats are an unknown, but there is one definite NO for me: no chickens! My instincts are just too strong, and I will kill them if given the opportunity.

There’s something else you should know about me: I really need attention, activity, and involvement with my family. If I get bored or feel like I’m missing out on the fun, I have been known to turn into a bit of an escape artist. A secure yard and a family committed to keeping me physically and mentally busy will be important.

I’m not crate trained, but I am potty trained, so I already have some good house manners under my belt.

You may notice I’m sporting a pretty short haircut right now! My coat has been shaved down, but as a Border Collie/Idaho Shag mix, that hair is going to grow back long and shaggy. My future family should be prepared for regular brushing and grooming to keep my coat healthy and manageable once it grows back.
