Picked this up as another project bike and spent about two weeks totally restoring it. The bike was tore down completely, all parts cleaned and service, and them rebuilt with all new consumable parts.
The frame paint was gone over completely with Meguair's No. 7 Mirror Glaze and then treated a coat of Mother's Gold Carnuba wax. All silver parts were polished with a metal polish to restore their shine also. Even the pedals were tore down completely, and then built back up with fresh grease and new bearings. The toe clips were polished and the straps treated with a leather cleaner and conditioner.
This is from the era when Miyata was making these frames for Univega. So you are getting great Miyata triple butted steel with forged dropouts and diamond cutouts in the lugs.
Specs for the bike:
Top tube, 22" CTC
Seat tube, 21.5" CTC
Chainrings - 52/42T
6 speed sealed Freewheel - 13-24T
Rear Down Tube shifter will do both index (one click per gear) and friction shifting.
Lots of new parts were included in the rebuild:
Bottle cages x 2 - $20
Wolftooth bolts- $10
Soma Hoods - $24
Brake cables - $10
Shift cables-$10
Bar tape -$18
Chain -$18
Bar plugs - $5
Maxxis Tires 700 x 25 -$50
Brake pads $5
Inner tubes -$8
Rim tape strip-$ 5
Total of just the new parts: $183
I've put around 20 miles on it since the rebuild just testing to make sure it's all safe and ready for the new owner. At one point I did a seated acceleration of the bike and took it from 20 mph to 26 mph in no time. The steal beauty will flat out fly and is very comfortable on the road. It needs nothing and should give a new owner years of trouble free riding.
Please note I am in Ogden Valley by Pineview Reservoir, not Ogden City.
The bike comes with the silver Shimano 600 pedals shown in a couple of the last pictures, not the Look Keo Pedals you can see in some of the pictures.
Cash only on local pickup.
