I’m posting this for my mom, who is looking for a very special new home for Jaxson (Jaxx), a beautiful 1-year-old male Australian Shepherd/Idaho Shag mix. This is an incredibly difficult decision and we are not looking to simply give him to the first person interested. Finding the right long-term home for him is our priority.
Jaxson is approximately 50–55 lbs., affectionate, loyal, playful and full of young-dog energy. He loves being outside, running and rolling in the grass, playing with balls and even crunching on ice cubes. He has beautiful black-and-white markings, a wonderful happy personality and, thanks to his love of bones, some pretty impressive pearly-white teeth. 😊
He has completed puppy training and knows several commands, including leave it, down, place and switch/off, along with others. He is potty trained and kennel trained and can generally be kenneled for approximately 5–6 hours. He has also been around children and cats. His vaccinations are current, and documentation of his vaccinations and completed training can be provided. He is not neutered.
Why he is being rehomed
My mom loves him dearly and originally intended to keep him for life. Unfortunately, she underwent hip replacement surgery and is only about 113 lbs. Jaxson grew considerably larger and stronger than she had been told he would, and safely walking and exercising him has become too risky for her. He is not being rehomed because of aggression or because he is a bad dog. He is simply a young, strong, energetic dog whose physical needs have become more than she can safely manage after surgery.
We believe Jaxson would thrive with someone who understands active dogs and can give him plenty of exercise, attention and outdoor time. An active individual or family, someone experienced with Australian Shepherds or other working/herding breeds, or a home with acreage/farm property could all potentially be wonderful fits.
A home with adequate outdoor space is required, and a securely fenced yard is strongly preferred. My mom would also prefer a permanent homeowner rather than a rental situation and, ideally, a home outside of Manti.
Most importantly, we want someone who is prepared for the commitment of a young, energetic dog and wants Jaxson as a permanent member of their family.
$200 rehoming fee. Serious inquiries only, please.
My mom, Regina, would like to personally speak with prospective homes before making a decision. Phone calls only after 3:00 p.m., when she gets off work. For any other inquiries, texts are welcome (623-230-7073) and she can respond afterward as she is available.
Please tell us a little about yourself, your home/yard, other pets, and the kind of lifestyle Jaxson would have with you when reaching out.
