7 tips to sell your stuff speedier on KSL Classifieds
Discussed in this article
Once you’ve decided to part ways with your Limited Edition Star Wars VHS collection, you’re ready to (blaster) boost it out the door. Where can you find someone who will love your loot as much as you? Hans down, KSL Classifieds is the place to sell — even better than Tosche Station. Use our eight tips to create a compelling listing that’ll get it sold in a matter of parsecs.

1. Take good photos
You know what your playhouse looks like inside and out, but a potential buyer doesn’t. So including an out-of-focus picture with your listing isn’t helpful for either of you. Subconsciously, the buyer could think you are trying to hide an imperfection — or some serious grime. Create a good first impression by taking sharp photos with good lighting. Take advantage of your camera’s editing features to correct the colors and to remove background clutter.
2. Choose your words
The ability to find just the right words keeps advertising copywriters steadily employed. You don’t need fancy wordplay to draw in buyers, but there are some universal phrases that will attract them. For big ticket items such as furniture or appliances, words such as “clean” and “excellent condition” tell the buyer you’ve taken good care of your item. Selling a couch or a dining table? Include the dimensions so buyers will know if it will fit into their tiny apartment.

3. Share a story
No, not the tragic story of Anakin and Padme; tell yours. “We’ve taken this RV to every state in the U.S. with our family of five. We’ve enjoyed the roomy interior for playing games and cooking meals. We most loved laying on the roof to look at the stars while visiting the national parks.” Not feeling that poetic? Try, “All three of our kids learned to ride on this bike!”
4. Set the right price
Let’s face facts: You’re a lot more attached to your smartwatch than a buyer — for now. After all, it’s seen you through some pretty serious achievements. Half marathon? Nailed it. But even though you think it’s still worth the price you paid, shoppers might not. Consider your item’s condition, brand and age when setting the price. Be realistic, but don’t sell yourself short. If you go too cheap, people may think you’re selling a faulty item — or you’re a fraudster. Don’t know what’s reasonable? Check other listings to see what others are offering.
5. Highlight its scarcity
FOMO is real. If you have something rare — an untouched Skeletor doll your mom got you instead of the He-Man you really wanted — let people know they’ll be getting something special. That out-of-print board game you found in your grandma’s closet? Emphasize the nostalgia. And if your item is just ordinary? Add a deadline — “Must be gone by Saturday.”

6. Don’t be OVEREAGER!
Using all caps — in hopes of making your ad SPEAK LOUDLY to potential buyers — doesn’t necessarily work. In fact, it can be annoying and difficult to read. Instead, focus on writing clear descriptions, using both proper punctuation and grammar.
7. Get a celebrity
OK, we’re just kidding. Unless you happen to know Mark Hamill. But you can put your own endorsement on it. Tell buyers how you’ve used your item, how well it works or how useful it is. And hey, maybe they can catch the attention of a celebrity when they’re using it.
List your item for sale on KSL Classifieds to be seen by thousands of shoppers every day. With your smart wording, you’ll turn that listing into a sale faster than a swinging lightsaber.
