Avoid fraud when buying and selling tickets on KSL Classifieds
Discussed in this article
Don’t let theft be the star of the show. Save the spotlight for T-Swift or Beyoncé. Leave the games to the Utah Jazz. When browsing KSL Classifieds for any type of ticket, here are some helpful tips to avoid encountering fraud.
Unrealistic offers
While we love some flair and panache while watching our favorite performers on stage, that type of presentation from a seller can be a red flag. Tickets that are usually around $300 going for $30, acting urgent and insisting you buy tickets by 3:00 p.m. or else? The offer might be too good to be true.
Verify the seller
Surprise, surprise, it turns out user GiveMeYourMoneyImmediately with a two-day-old account doesn’t actually have any tickets to sell. Before you make a payment, always check a seller’s account to see how long they’ve been a KSL Classifieds member and if they have listed items in the past.
Spot fake tickets
Sometimes fraudulent sellers make it embarrassingly easy to spot fakes. Are the tickets listed for a concert in 2003? Did they list a venue that’s in Iceland? Did they claim the tickets would be mailed to you when the venue is only accepting digital QR codes? Nice try, GiveMeYourMoneyImmediately.
Valid payments
Watch out for generally weird payment requests. Sellers shouldn’t be asking for your bank accounts, routing numbers, your IRA, gold bricks, etc. Payment requests are common over PayPal, CashApp and Venmo, but always be cautious.
