Bring your pup to Bark at the Moon on Saturday
Discussed in this article
Too old for prom? Kick off your summer with an even better date — your best pal. That’s right, take your pup to the Humane Society of Utah’s annual Bark at the Moon event on Saturday, May 20, at The Gateway. Call it a doggy date. A hound huddle. A pooch party. Just clip a bowtie (actually, a leash) onto your bow wow and head to the best pup party in town from 5 to 9 p.m.
Three (or more) dog night
The annual event includes activities for both you and your canine. There are food booths, vendor booths and live music — so you can still dance if you want to. You can also get in some playtime, with events specifically for your dog. Dogs (and their owners) who are socialized with other dogs are welcome. Your pet must also be at least 6 months old and up-to-date on vaccinations. Purchase tickets to the event online.
Helping hounds
If the promise of a night on the town with your tail-wagger isn’t incentive enough, remember all proceeds from the event go to the Humane Society of Utah. The non-profit organization relies on donations and fundraisers for its many services and programs, from pet adoptions and fostering to education and behavior training.

More puppy love
Ready to expand your pet family? KSL Classifieds wants to help you share the love with our free adoption event May 21-28, 2023. We’re partnering with the Humane Society of Utah to pay the fee for all adoptions this week at the Murray Adoption Center. Yep, all pet adoptions are free for the week!
“This adoption promotion aims to find homes for as many animals as possible this week,” said Guinnevere Shuster, HSU’s director of marketing and communications. “Animal shelters across the state are at or beyond capacity. By [adopting], you are contributing to resolving the shelter crisis we are currently experiencing.”
Peruse the pictures of currently available animals on KSL Classifieds — they’re updated every morning. You’ll find dogs and cats, but also bunnies, rats, ferrets and guinea pigs. No need to swipe right or left. You can meet up at the center to see if you’re the perfect match. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
