Help save lives at Best Friends Strut Your Mutt 2024 on Oct. 19
Discussed in this article
Liberty Park is going to the dogs on Oct. 19, quite literally, for the annual Best Friends Strut Your Mutt event. The annual festival for pooches and their parents is your opportunity to meet and mingle with hundreds of other pet owners.
More importantly, Strut Your Mutt is a fundraiser for animal welfare. As a sponsor, KSL Classifieds is continuing our commitment to help bring families and pets together. Visit the park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for entertainment, pet-friendly exhibit booths and, of course, food vendors.

Strut your ruff
Who needs a catwalk when you can Strut Your Mutt? Participants in the walk-a-thon — people and their dogs — can choose to donate to Best Friends or other local animal welfare organizations. Even your entry fee goes directly to animal fostering and adoption. Registration opens in early September.
The walk itself begins at noon; you’ll take a leisurely 1.4-mile stroll around Liberty Park. Your legwork helps the welfare agencies save homeless pets. The money raised goes toward spay/neuter programs and veterinarian services. These Utah pet events also help sponsor foster programs, other adoption events and lifesaving transports — transferring pets between shelters in an effort to find them homes.

Enjoy the festivities
Before or after the Strut, do a little shopping with your furry friend at the pet friendly exhibitor booths. Then stop by for a snack at one of the food trucks, and/or get some liquid refreshment from the beer garden.
If your pooch has a lucky paw, enter to win one of the contests or the raffle. There’s entertainment planned, too. Utah’s own singer/songwriter Kaleb Austin is slated to perform on the main stage. Who better than a country singer to croon about a man and his dog?

Save a life
Best Friends believes helping animals find loving homes, whether through adoption or foster programs, is key to saving the lives of thousands of pets. Utah’s own plan to be a no-kill state is a good start.
In 2023, more than 400,000 dogs and cats were killed in shelters nationwide. If just 6% more people chose to adopt instead of buying pets, Best Friends reports, we could be a no-kill nation.
Ready to adopt a dog of your own? You’ll find hundreds to choose from on KSL Classifieds. Then head over to Strut Your Mutt on October 19th. Register your dynamic duo for the walk online with Best Friends.
And if you haven’t committed to a doggo just yet, you’re still invited to the Liberty Park event. You may even find the perfect pal at the pet adoption event. Learn more about KSL Classifieds pet community initiatives on our Resource page.
