What is the Best Friends foster program?

The Best Friends foster program helps you help animals who need it the most. You’ll be creating a positive impact on animal welfare and part of a lifesaving team by taking care of homeless pets for a while. This gives little pals the second chance they need while looking for a loving forever home. Best Friends makes it as easy as possible for you to offer foster care for pets, with training, all the supplies you’ll need and no time commitments required.

How the foster program works 

Fostering pets through Best Friends is a simple way you can give back to the pet community. Because there are no time commitments, your foster time could be as short as one night or weekend. Or you could settle in for a month or two with a furry friend. The level of support given to you is unique to Best Friends. They will provide you with the essentials: food, medical supplies and any other necessities. 

Some pets may be a little shy or have other needs that require some extra TLC and patience. Best Friends will consider your lifestyle and schedule and make efforts to match you with pets that fit your needs. Here’s what to expect before fostering.

• You must be 18 or older to apply to foster a pet.

• You’ll need to fill out an application form.

• You’ll complete a short online orientation, create a volunteer profile and sign a few forms.

• Be sure to let Best Friends know if you have other pets at home.
