Microsoft(c) Bob Operating System Collectible Uniq Heyburn , ID | 6 Hours 28 9 $30.00 Description This is a rather unique item that I just found in the bottom of my file cabinet. It is original disk of the BOB Computer Operating System produced by Microsoft(c) quite some time back, 1995 or 96. I obtained this disk as something to play with but never actually got around to installing it on a computer. The disk you will received is SEALED with the red label, the open one in the pictures is the one I was playing with but never actually installed. You can install this OS on top of any Windows operating system from XP up to and including Windows 10 but for the latter you need to be pretty good with making modifications to allow BOB to run. On XP and Vista it is a direct install. Also, it will only install on systems running in 32 Bit mode, will not install on 64 Bit systems. If you buy the disk I will include link information for installation videos and requirements to help you get started. It is a very "cute" system as you will see. I will ship them anywhere in the Continental US for the asking price media mail, if you want it quicker it will be an additional $3 for postage. *** Pick up in Heyburn Idaho near Burley. Voice calls only, if it sounds like your call was answered and then hung up, call right back. Cell service is spotty here. 208-731-6760 or 801-917-4370 *** Note 9/24: I picked up an old Windows XP system from the thrift store for $10 and installed my copy of BOB on it, I included some screen shots so you can see it works perfect and is real neat, has sounds and voices throughout and a long list of things that can be done on the screen. It would run just fine without internet access making it a very secure thing for kids to play with. Even for us older kids! NOTE: If you would like to purchase the system I installed my copy on, it is available for $90 which includes Computer with XP installed, BOB Original Disk, Keyboard and Mouse picked up in Heyburn. No Monitor. Information: Microsoft Bob was a Microsoft software product that was released on March 11, 1995 and discontinued in early 1996. The program was intended to provide a more user-friendly interface for the Windows 3.1x, Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems, supplanting the Windows Program Manager. Microsoft Bob presented screens showing a "house", with "rooms" that the user could go to containing familiar objects corresponding to computer applications--for instance, a desk with pen and paper, a checkbook, and other items. In this case, clicking on the pen and paper would open the word processor. A cartoon dog named Rover and other cartoon characters provided guidance using speech balloons. Rover and a few others managed to later make their way back in Windows XP as "Search Companions". Microsoft Bob was greatly criticized in the press, did not gain wide acceptance with users, and was neither a successful nor long-lived product.
