VenmoThis boat starts and runs but has a few things that need fixed which is why I’ve posted it at the price all the other project boats of this size and age are going for. Last time I took this out, the boat was hard to start then only wanted to run at higher rpm, then after it warmed up the lower hose on the outdrive caught on fire. The water put it out before damage was done to anything other than the hose. After we got it back on the trailer I started it up again and it started right up and ran good at any rpm. Talking to a mechanic, it sounds like what happened was the float in the carburetor stuck open while on the washboard road to the lake, sending raw fuel into the system and flooding it. Then after starting and heating up, some of that raw fuel that had been pumped out the exhaust caught fire. So, the only things this boat should need to operate normally is a carb rebuild to fix the float issue (and a fuel shutoff valve wouldn’t hurt) and the lower hose replaced. Before that we took this boat all over, from Fish Lake to Bear Lake to Flaming Gorge. The 5.8L (Ford 351) engine has plenty of power for pulling. Plenty of room for everyone with the open bow. When the previous owners re-did the interior, they removed the seats out of the middle of the main area to just use coolers for seats instead so it wouldn’t be so crowded with both seats and coolers, and that has actually been an awesome idea. Comes with an extra prop, a box of spare parts for the outdrive, a manual for the boat and a repair manual. Comes with both a travel cover and a storage cover. Only other issues are the main power wire to the dash failed somewhere, a ran a new wire with a fuse right at the battery and it works fine. There is also a tire that the tread has separated on since I parked this last year. Still holding air but will come apart on the highway. For full asking price I can put a new tire on it. We paid $4,500 for this 3 years ago, and would be selling it for the same price without the issues. The $3,000 discount leaves enough margin to have everything repaired by a shop and still be cheaper than a similar boat, but you could really save some money if you do it yourself. I hate to take such a loss on it, but with three kids under 3 we just don’t get to the lake much at this point in our life, so figure we’ll sell this now and look into another boat when the kids get old enough to enjoy it!
