I got this not too long ago. Long enough to get a couple scratches on the screen, but it doesn't affect function. For this particular brand, you have to download an app to your phone and your phone has to be within Bluetooth range to work. You can receive texts, but you can't respond to them. You are able to make and receive phone calls. This would be mostly for someone wanting to monitor their health/exercise on a regular basis. Battery runs low, even when not in use.
