1985 Toyota 4Runner – The Unicorn Setup (Solid Axle + 22RE EFI) This is the year everyone wants: 1985, the only year with the factory solid front axle paired with the fuel-injected 22RE. I’ve been building and enjoying this rig for about a year, and it’s been my daily driver. It runs great—I just need something that fits the whole family now. The 22RE has 292,294 miles, runs amazingly well, has excellent compression, and doesn’t leak a drop of oil. I’ve taken it all over the west desert with zero issues.
