ApplePayAwesome retro commuter bike from the late great Pure City Cycles. It was rescued from the elements after being left outside for a year or two when its owner moved away. As such, it has some patina that I've left on the frame, but it would also be a good candiate for a sweet powder coating job. There isn't much that I didn't go through on this bike to make it my commuter to and from work. It's unfortunately a little small for me, so I'm looking for a bike with a bigger frame. Here's what I've done:
- New Shimano brakes and cables
-New retro-style gear shifter and cable that is smooth as glass
- Stripped all parts off frame, polished, waxed, sealed with ceramic coating
- New 700C gravel tires with tan sidewalls good for winter riding, new tubes as well
- New stainless steel spokes and nipples on rebuilt hubs
-3 speed Shimano Nexus internal hub cleaned and tuned up
- New Shimano chain
-New bottom bracket
-New very-bright rear taillight with constant and flash settings
-If you would like a saddle bag, I can throw a brand new one in that I didn't end up using. It matches the bike color scheme.
The cons:
- You get lots of looks and thumbs-up from people while riding. If you're an introvert, beware.
- I thought that I would get more ladies with this bike, but all the old guys seem to be the ones who come up to me and talk to me about it. If you're into that, this is a good investment.
- There are some scratches from the previous owner. I like the character they give, but if you're looking for a perfect paint job, this isn't it.
-The shifter is for a 9-speed, but this bike is a 3-speed. It still works, but you have to push the shifter farther than you normally would. This hasn't been an issue for me.
-I'm keeping the pedals I put on it, but I'll include the original ones. They're not perfect, but they get the job done.
Must see to appreciate how awesome this bike is. I'm open to reasonable offers in person. Text is best, as I'm not always able to be close to my phone.
