$20,000.00
Welp, no takers at $25k. How about $20k? Four-seat buggy. Ample room for 2 adults up front, and decent room for 2 pre-teen kids in the back. 125" wheelbase. 102" wide sidewall to sidewall. Yes, that's right. It's WIDE. Roof rack integrated into the cage for carrying stuff.
So the above is the good stuff. Here are the caveats:
-The front and rear wheel lug patterns are different, as the axles came from different year trucks
-The battery is weak, but still starts the vehicle
-The front output shaft of the transfer case is slightly bent. I managed this by raising the nose of the vehicle too high with a cherry picker to install the ORI's, with the driveshaft still attached. The driveshaft reached the end of its range of motion, and I ended up tweaking the t-case output. You can't feel it at any speed. No vibration, and no leak. But it does wobble slightly. I have video of it if you want to see.
-I rebuilt the transmission with the new Reid case, and then the next trip out it got hot when I let a family member drive the rig in way too high of a gear uphill for a couple minutes while I wasn't riding along. This caused the guage to peg at 260 degrees. I let it cool down, pulled the dipstick and smelled the fluid. It wasn't burned at all. The rig still shifts fine and there's no indication in its performance of damage. But now you know.
-I'm a hobbyist. The fabrication is not very clean, but the rig functions fine. It crawls well and is a beast in the sand with its large footprint and good horsepower.
-The steering is very slow at idle. The three-inch ram, which I recently installed seems to want a larger-volume pump. I have a CBR pump that I will include with the rig. However, the LS2 engine came from a Corvette and has Corvette-spacing pulley components that hug the block pretty close. Getting the CBR steering pump and fittings to fit in the factory bracketry might be a real challenge.
Despite the aforementioned issues, the rig can be wheeled quite well right now. It is titled and registered. Offered at $25,000 and cash is preferred. A check will do if you're willing to wait until it clears before taking possession. I'm open to any offer and won't be offended by anything, but I'll give this a little time before I soften too much on the price. Thanks for looking.
