GooglePay1924 Colt SAA chambered in 44-40 with a 4.75 inch barrel and blue/color cased finish. The numbers match on the frame, grip frame, and cylinder. Per the included Colt archive letter it left the factory August 14, 1924 and it was shipped to New York, NY. At the time of the shipment it had a 7.5 inch barrel. The barrel on it now is the proper era marked ''COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER.44-40''. It also has the correct two line address on top of the barrel. The finish is definitely pre war colt oven blue so it was changed out before WWII. This revolver remains in very high condition. The original bluing still retains a deep dark shine throughout and the color casing is very strong. All of the leading edges are sharp. There are no scratches. The grip straps are very strong. As seen in the photos there are five small spots of brown under the finish on the cylinder and a little freckling that is isolated to the right top of the hammer. Outside of that there is very little that detracts. Overall the finish rates 97%. The bore is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. All four clicks are crisp and the lock up is bank vault tight. The trigger has a crisp clean break to it. The grips are not numbered. They do have a very good fit. All of the checkers remaining sharp throughout. They are faded slightly. This is a very desirable SAA that should enhance any collection.
