The toddler sits on the comfy seat and holds onto the padded grip, while an adult uses the handles to push and help balance as you go around. I used this to hike all sorts of trails, including rocky and steep ones, and it did great. You manuever the kid like you would a mountain bike, and the handle setup gives you lots of stability and control to keep the kiddo safe. The unirider is in great condition, no issues or problems.
