ApplePayThis 50-year-old Wm. Knabe & Co. parlor grand piano (5’7”) is a working instrument with a rich musical life behind it.
For its first 26 years, it served church congregations, accompanying services and filling sanctuaries with music. For the past 24 years, it’s lived in our home, where it has been played nearly every day — lessons, practice sessions, and living-room concerts included. Along the way, it helped turn one of my children into a gifted pianist, composer and performer, which we credit at least partly to having a piano that invited playing rather than just sitting quietly in the corner.
Condition Plays and sounds very nice No cringey notes, no sticking keys To me and the average ear, it sounds in tune and pleasant. Has not been tuned in 4 years, but is actively played daily. Buyer should plan to tune after moving (standard and expected practice).
Normal cosmetic wear consistent with age and use
Well cared for, not neglected or stored
Reason for Sale We are moving, and unfortunately the piano will not fit in our new home. This is purely a logistics issue — not a condition issue. It is actually heartbreaking to let it go.
Ideal For A serious student or pianist A musical family A church, studio, or home that wants a real piano with character and history
This piano still has a lot of music left to give and deserves a home where it will continue to be played.
