If you know your way around a soldering iron, this could be a ~$2,000+ laptop for a fraction of the price.
Here's one for the hobbyist or repair tech who actually knows what they're doing.
My beautiful and powerful Lenovo Legion 5i Pro with RTX 4070 just died in it's sleep one night. No drops, no liquid, no drama. It just didn't wake up the next morning. Took it to a "repair" shop; they said it needs a new motherboard. Ya think?
When it was running, this thing was an absolute beast — RTX 4070 makes it a serious machine for AI workloads, video editing, photo editing, gaming, you name it. Whoever fixes this is getting a high-performance laptop for the cost of a repair.
I don't have the skills to fix it myself, but I did my own continuity tracing on the power rail components. Every inductor in the row checks out — except one. That's your starting point. I've already cleaned the suspect component and photographed it with arrows pointing directly at the fault area.
Shop also mentioned the power jack area looked like it could use a reflow under magnification — but my continuity trace tells a different story. Could be both. Could be one thing feeding the other. Could be neither. That's the fun part. :)
What you're getting:
Lenovo Legion 5i Pro 16IRX8, RTX 4070, 32GB RAM, cared-for, excellent cosmetic condition
Windows 11 (I believe) or maybe 10; I never used the supplied SSD
1 GB SSD (factory image; never used)
Original Charger/AC Power
Original Retail Box
Non-working, sold AS-IS, NO RETURNS
My continuity findings and annotated photos included
A legitimate repair challenge with a clear starting point
If you've got a hot air station, a scope, and a Sunday afternoon — this one's for you.
Asking $650 OBO. Local pickup preferred. Cash Only. Mapleton, UT.
