Atlas is a 16–17 year old grade Appaloosa gelding that still acts like he’s 4. He is just the best boy with a gentle, kind personality. I originally bought him two years ago as a project horse and ended up falling in love with him, but I recently picked up another project and don’t have the time he deserves, so he’s looking for his next pasture. Atlas is green broke but very willing and easy to work with. Once you’re on him and directing him, he does great and is responsive. He tends to get a little excited and will fast walk, but he has never bucked, bit, or kicked. He rides well in a halter or bitless bridle and is currently being started on neck reining, which he’s picking up quickly. I’ve only ridden him in the round pen and arena, so I’m unsure how he would do on trails. He is an easy keeper, good for the farrier, and easy to be around. Atlas has a funny personality quirk where he’ll slowly back up to you for booty scratches. It can look intimidating if you don’t know him, but he has never shown any aggression and is truly a gentle soul. He is not a kid’s riding horse, but kids can safely lead or sit on him. Though I am sure that with consistency and work he would become a great kids horse.
Atlas would make a great project for someone wanting a kind horse to continue working with.
